Our excavator training courses will give you the skills, expertise and knowledge to work as a plant operator in the construction industry.

As a plant operator working throughout Padworth, you will operate plant machinery to excavate, transfer loads, move and lift materials to given specifications and locations. You will also learn how to work efficiently and safely as part of a team and how to operate and prepare different types of plant equipment and machinery depending on which pathway you choose to take. For example, you may wish to specialise in areas such as forming, attachments, road/rail, transporting loads, specialist lifting, excavating and constructing, erecting and dismantling or cranes. The Certificate and Diploma are differentiated by the complexity, size and safety issues surrounding a piece of machinery.

As part of this comprehensive excavator training course, you will learn how to conform to general welfare, health and safety in the workplace and how to conform to productive working practices in your Padworth workplace. All the units in the qualification relate to the knowledge and skills required to become a plant operator and each pathway allows you to specialise in the area you require to become qualified in, ensuring you are competent to undertake the job role.

You will be required to complete all mandatory units and the required number of optional units for each pathway. These differ for each pathway.

There are no entry requirements for this excavator qualification – anyone over the age of 16 that is seeking to demonstrate competence working in the plant operations sector can take this qualification.

Product Description

Provided to clients across Hampshire and Padworth, the L2 NVQ Certificate in Excavator Training and Plant Operations is a work-based qualification for experienced workers. Categories in this qualification route include: 

• 360 Excavator below 10 tonnes
• 360 Excavator above 10 tonnes
• 180 Excavator below 10 tonnes
• 180 Excavator above 10 tonnes
• Tracked Loading Shovel
• Trencher
• Crawler / Tractor Dozer QCF388

Excavator training candidates will need to compile a portfolio of work-based evidence, along with an on-site assessment.

The qualification can take up to 6 months to complete, depending on work commitments, and you will be given high levels of support throughout the process.

If you already hold a Red CPCS Trained Operators Card achieving this qualification will gain you a Blue CPCS Competence Card.
