ROLO Scheme (Register of Land-Based Operatives)
NEED TO OBTAIN YOUR LiSS CSCS CARD ?
The ROLO Scheme (Register of Land-Based Operatives) was introduced to raise the standards of Health and Safety and reduce the risks and accidents throughout the industry for anyone who works in the Land based Sectors, it also encourages employers to keep a record of workers in the Land based industry who have achieved a recognised level of competence.
Applicants are required to achieve a ROLO Certificate and undertake the CSCS health and safety touch screen test. These can be done in any order. On completion of both, and having made your application to BALI, a LiSS CSCS card (including photograph) would be issued to the applicant, similar to a credit card. This is issued to an individual or organisation and will be valid for 5 years. Any other relevant training, i.e. NPTC pesticide, chain saw, ride on mowers etc. would also be acknowledged on the card.
If you use the ROLO Certificate as a means of demonstrating progressive health and safety training, the certificate alone is valid for 2 years
Landbased Industry Skills Scheme (LISS) and Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) is a jointly managed Scheme – LISS/CSCS – where industry works with CSCS to develop a framework for skills development and progression in the workplace through a structured card scheme. It is administered by BALI. It is a stand-alone scheme but is also a requirement of National Highways Sector Schemes 18 (Landbased). The ROLO health and safety certificate is the ONLY accredited route to LiSS/CSCS.
