As a professional plant operator in Southampton, you will learn to work safely and efficiently as part of a group. This could range from simple activities such as loading and transporting materials, to more complex tasks like erecting and dismantling structures, using cranes or completing specialist lifting or excavating operations. The diploma and certificate available for each piece of machinery depends on its size, safety requirements and complexity.
This in-depth excavator training course provides you with the skills and knowledge you need to successfully operate plant machinery in a Southampton workplace. You will learn how to work productively as well as how to take the necessary steps to ensure safety, welfare and health is maintained. The units of this qualification can be tailored to suit your individual ambitions, enabling you to become an efficient plant operator.
It is compulsory to fulfil all the units and optional units for each pathway, as these will be different for each.
This qualification does not set any entry requirements, and is open to anyone over the age of 16 who would like to prove their competency in plant operations.
Product Description
The L2 NVQ Certificate in Excavator Training and Plant Operations is a work-based qualification, offered across Southampton and Hampshire, designed for experienced professionals. This route of certification covers the following categories:
- 360 Excavator below 10 tonnes
- 360 Excavator above 10 tonnes
- 180 Excavator below 10 tonnes
- 180 Excavator above 10 tonnes
- Tracked Loading Shovel
- Trencher
- Crawler / Tractor Dozer QCF388
Excavator training candidates must put together a portfolio of work-experience evidence, as well as an on-site examination.
It can take up to 6 months to finish the qualification, depending on your busy schedule and work commitments. However, you will be backed up with lots of assistance during the whole course.
If you already possess a Red CPCS Trained Operators Card, this qualification will earn you a Blue CPCS Competence Card.
LEVEL 2 NVQ PLANT OPERATIONS
To obtain a CPCS 'Competent Operator' card at Blue level, you will need to upgrade your qualification. This is essential for anyone wanting to pursue a career as an operator. You can do this by meeting the prerequisites and gaining the necessary experience.
